Were headed into 2019 and I am spending lots of time reflecting on the past year – how it went and what I can improve on. This is a post I wrote before I had a blog, in fact this Chanuka Candle Musings was one of the articles I wrote that had people telling me that in 2018 I should start my own blog – well, I did just that and since I’ll be writing up a reflection on the year it feels right to post this article here.

12/19/2017: It’s the last night of Chanukah and we’ve just finished lighting the Menorah. As I watch the flames on the full Menorah jump and dance my mind wanders.
Each night we light an additional light until we reach the full lit menorah – each night the light gets brighter and brighter.
Candles and fire are an amazing entity – it’s the only thing that can give off of itself and still remain the same – one candle can ignite another without loosing any of its brightness. We have a responsibility in life to be a light unto others – to love and cherish and to assist.
In my role as a Fashion Consultant that is what I strive to do – to always be a light unto others, always be a shining example and to always ignite others and spread love and light.
The Gregorian New Year is almost upon us and with that we will usher in the Year 2018 – an amazing Social Media coach that I know encourages us to pick one word each new year that will be our “Word of the Year”. For 2018 I have chose the word LIFE. (You can check out her community here)
Why LIFE you ask?
We’re coming to the year 2018, in Hebrew every letter in the alphabet has a numerical value and often meanings and messages are derived based on the numerical value of a word.
The word for life in Hebrew is Chai (pronounced with a guttural Ch) it’s spelled with the letters Chet ח and Yud י. The 8th and 10th letters in the Hebrew alphabet, respectively. Place them side by side it’s 81 and swapped it’s 18. Very very often in Jewish culture the number 18 is referred to as “Chai”
So based on the fact that being Jewish is so part of who I am it felt appropriate for my word of 2018 to be life! Now? How does this mean something to me?
In 2018 I commit to living Life to the fullest – living and lighting up. I want to be there for my kids. I want to be there for my friends and be there for myself and for my husband. It’ll be my 10th wedding anniversary, and I want to start living with no regrets. In my personal life, my business life and just in general. I want 2018 to be full of LIFE.
In the next couple days I will post my reflection on 2018 – one thing I definitely did was get a grip of my healthy life and I wrote a couple blog posts on that: My Journey to Health and The Frustrating Part of Weight Loss no one talks about.
